Nose

Once open, our Merlot shows very aromatic hints of plum, raspberry, sweet tobacco and mocha. After a while floral notes are also very prominent and blending beautifully with hints of dried herbs , baking spices and earthy tones.

Palate

On the palate you will get an explosion of red berry fruits, with smooth silky tannin and good structure. The soft and balanced mouth feel is complimented with bright acidity in the finish and makes for an excellent food wine.

Growing Conditions

Our Merlot from 2011 was crafted from the best blocks of Merlot in the Columbia Valley and is a definite representation of the cool and shorter vintage we had that year. Cooler conditions delivered bright, lean and elegant wines that can age for a long time. The specific blocks enjoyed the most hang time they could get to ensure vibrant and ripe fruit at picking time.

Winemaking

The different lots were fermented separately.

Aging

Aged for 20 months in French oak. After barrel aging the best barrels of all our Merlot lots were selected for this particular blend.

Food Pairing

This wine is great with wild game, mushroom risotto and leg of lamb.
