Nose
The razor-precise fruit nose is loaded with bright, dense red fruits and high-tone floral notes.
Palate
The wine is refreshing on the pallet with bright acidity while providing rich crème cassis and other red fruit flavors and excellent length.
Growing Conditions
Much like 2002, the 2003 vintage was incredible for its lack of precipitation. While Eastern Washington normally has a little growing season of rain – to have vintages completely devoid of rain is quite unusual. In its’ place were our usual glorious warming sunshine and refreshingly cool nights. Springtime bloom occurred without event, resulting in even set and eventual ripening.
Harvest
The Seven Hills Sangiovese was picked relatively early on September 5th, while the Pepper Bridge and Mill Creek Upland blocks were picked more than three weeks later on September 29th.
Aging
Aged in new French Puncheons and 30 hectoliter ovals for 14 months.
Appearance
This is our darkest Sangiovese to date – gorgeous, saturated magenta to the rim.
