Named after Corey’s Grandpa Fred and his famous “tall tales,” this Estate grown and produced bottling of Syrah exemplifies what the Rocks District of Milton-Freewater is all about - earthy, gamey, aromatic and concentrated with a medium body. Whether it was Grandpa Fred’s heroics on the river as a young boy or the mighty bears he slayed in the big woods, his stories were always fascinating. Perhaps that’s what inspired Corey to become a winemaker -- every bottle of wine is a new story waiting to be told!

This year Dusted Valley proudly celebrates their 18th anniversary of growing and crafting spectacular Washington State wine in Walla Walla. With strong roots in agriculture, brother-in-laws Chad Johnson’s and Corey Braunel’s wine growing philosophies start in the vineyard with sustainable practices, low (or modest) yields and minimalistic winemaking. The resulting wines offer a sense of place and showcase their estate vineyards in the Walla Walla Valley and other premier vineyards throughout the state. As part of their distinctive oak program, Dusted Valley works with barrels crafted from the finest French oak, along with oak sourced from the area near the 45th parallel of Wisconsin where they were born and raised. At roughly a 5,000 case operation, offerings include Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Chardonnay, along with Bordeaux and Rhone Style blends. Dusted Valley proudly shares “the good life” with friends and fans at their two tasting rooms– one at the foot of the Blue Mountains in Walla Walla and one near Seattle in the heart of Woodinville, Washington.

We love Washington State Merlot, and think it’s one of the greatest places in the world to grow and make it. That’s part of why we are so honored to get to work with a little slice of history with the old
vine Merlot at Dionysus Vineyard. Our 2018 BFM consists of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, and stands up to its reputation of being the biggest Merlot based blend coming out of Washington today!

Red Blend

A field blend representing all five varietals planted at our Sconni Block Estate Vineyard - 48% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Malbec and 4% Petit Verdot - this is rosé as it was meant to be. Crisp, clean, fruit forward and utterly delicious!

White

This classic Washington State Chardonnay hails from Olsen Vineyard, one of the state’s premier vineyards. This is a high elevation, cool site that sits at an elevation of 1,110 feet - 1,350 feet. It was picked at perfect ripeness preserving its beautiful fruit flavors, racy acidity and natural balance. This
is an amazing food wine that should be the star of setting your imagination on fire with pairing possibilities.

Our Rachis Syrah is the fraternal twin to our Tall Tales Syrah, and never can two brothers be so different. The bigger, bolder, more fruit forward flavors of this wine show the breadth of character that Syrah can have. This is another strong vineyard designate showing from Stone Tree Vineyard.

The 2018 Malbec is a vineyard designate wine from our Southwind Vineyard Estate. This is an expressive wine where dark, earthy and herbal characteristics combine with the an array of fruit forward characteristics to yield a well-balanced, sophisticated Malbec. Southwind lies on the Oregon side of the Walla Walla Valley, perched high on a ridge of ancient lava flows overlooking the
beautiful Walla Walla Valley. The diversity in elevation and soil profiles make it an extremely special place to grow grapes.

With tasting rooms in both Walla Walla and Woodinville, this wine is a true celebration of all things Washington wine. Stone Tree Mourvédre serves as the backbone to this big, bold blend and is a
truly delicious expression of Stone Tree Vineyard itself. Drink some and express yourself!

This is just a spectacular Cabernet Sauvignon from the Columbia Valley! This medium bodied wine is both lithe and expressive, with embracing tannins wrapping gently around a focused core of dried herb-accented black cherry and licorice flavors, dancing with finesse on the finish.

Inspired by our Winemaking Team and crafted exclusively for our Stained Tooth Society members, the Barrel Thief Series is all about the thrill of discovery. The barrel thief is a tool used in the cellar by
winemakers to sample barrels, and each year our winemakers select a few barrels to “thief” something fun, exciting and unexpected. This is our Barrel Thief Series - wines crafted and bottled as unique offerings that may never be repeated again. Cheers to indulging in the adventure!

Purple is our favorite color. You know you’re drinking the good stuff when your teeth develop that unmistaken hue. Don’t worry, Chad’s father Dr. Dan Johnson D.D.S. says, “life is too short to stain your teeth on bad wine.” The Stained Tooth Syrah is sourced from some of Washington State’s top vineyards including our Stoney Vine Estate Vineyard on The Rocks and Stone Tree Vineyard on the Wahluke Slope. The bouquet floats out of the glass and draws you into all the extraordinary fruit while the ripe tannins provide a silky finish.

Pétillant Naturel, or as the cool kids call it, Pét-Nat for short. It’s the ultimate in Lo-Fi winemaking and is the oldest tradition of making bubbles called the Ancestral Method. Pétillant Naturel translates quite literally to “slightly bubbly” and “low intervention” making it a perfect candidate for natural winemaking. 

This blend of Mourvèdre and Syrah hails from our very own Stoney Vine Estate Vineyard and will knock your socks off. We love the meaty, gamey side of this wine, along with the lush ripe fruit that provides a powerful backbone. The DV boys made only 110 cases, so when it’s gone, it’s gone!

Pétillant Naturel, or as the cool kids call it, Pét-Nat for short. It’s the ultimate in Lo-Fi winemaking and is the oldest tradition of making bubbles called the Ancestral Method. Pétillant Naturel translates quite literally to “slightly bubbly” and “low intervention” making it a perfect candidate for natural winemaking. It can be made from any grape, but we chose our friend’s Walla Walla Valley Breezy Slope Pinot Noir. Actively fermenting wine is bottled and capped and left to finish fermenting in the bottle. Therefore all the Carbon Dioxide gas produced while finishing fermentation is captured in the finished wine along with a little sediment. This also adds to the charm of the individual bottles varying slightly in the amount of bubbles produced = unpredictable pleasure! Place in your refrigerator cap up, and chill before drinking.

This kick ass Grenache focused blend hails from Stone Tree Vineyard and stirs things up a little, probably not unlike the woman it is named. Soft entry and ripe fruit with acid and tannin to please everyone. Who is the infamous Squirrel Tooth Alice? Legend has it that this party girl of the early West
made being a cowboy truly “legendary”. We felt it was necessary to pay tribute to one of the ladies that kept the lonesome cowhands springing out on the ranch.

Our Petite Sirah hails from Stone Tree Vineyard in the heart of the Wahluke Slope AVA and exemplifies the luscious fruit and power that this vineyard is so well known for. Bound by the Columbia River and the Saddle Mountains, the rapid cooling in the evening helps retain naturally high levels of acidity,
which in turn preserves the varietal characters of the grape. Get ready - this wine starts big, stays big and finishes big!

This is Dusted Valley’s top Cabernet Sauvignon and is crafted from some of the oldest and most sought after vineyards in Washington State, including Dionysus and our Southwind Estate Vineyards. This wine is dedicated to the loving memory of Chad’s Grandpa Vernon Rhodes. He was a truly amazing man, and this Cab takes its name from his miraculous chocolate chip cookie the “V.R. Special”.

Southwind Estate Vineyard makes its debut this year with the release of our vineyard designate 2017 Cabernet Franc. The vineyard lies on the Oregon side of the Walla Walla Valley, perched high on a ridge of ancient lava flows overlooking the beautiful Walla Walla Valley. The diversity in elevation and soil profiles make it an extremely special place to grow grapes. Varietal typicity is spot on from the floral aromatics to the dark fruits, slate, and mineral. This generous vino is fabulously food-friendly and fantastically franc-o-licious!
