Growing Conditions

This mourvedre comes from Minick Vineyard in the Yakima valley. These grapes are always our last to harvest which usually happens near Halloween. This wine shows off the difference by using mourvedre from a cool site. Instead of the blue / black fruit and spice from our red mountain mourvedre, this wine shows black cherry and freshly tilled soil.

Bottling

No fining took place and the wine was filtered through a coarse pad to remove the lees.

Winemaking

The wine was made by gently crushing and de-stemming the clusters directly into bins without the use of a must pump. Approximately lO% of the grapes were fermented as whole clusters. Fermentation was completed using commercial yeasts and then the wine was pressed into 3-5 year old French 225L barrels where ML took place.

Aging

The wine was aged for approximately 2O months before bottling.
