Nose

Aromas of vanilla, ripe roasted cherries,
cardamom and cocoa give way to delicate notes
of cedar and dried herbs.

Palate

The palate is filled with
black cherry fruit balanced with smooth, mouth
filling tannins and nice acidity that lead to a long,
satisfying finish.

Growing Conditions

The 2015 vintage was characterized as the
warmest on record in the Walla Walla Valley. A dry
growing season with above average temperatures
persisted through the spring and into the fall,
leading to an earlier than normal harvest and an
abundance of ripe fruit flavors.

Winemaking

Our 2015 Sangiovese is made in the style of a Super
Tuscan wine—a dark ruby-colored blend of 90%
Sangiovese, sourced from Lewis Vineyard in Prosser,
WA and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from our Menozzi
Estate Vineyard. The black fruit, tannins and dried
herb notes of the Cabernet add complexity and
structure to the bright cherry flavors and natural
acidity of the Sangiovese. The grapes for
our Sangiovese were hand harvested, sorted and
fermented in small open-top containers.

Aging

The
wine was then aged for 17 months in a mixture of
French and American oak barrels, approximately
50% new, before being filtered and bottled.

Food Pairing

A perfect paring
for pasta or barbequed ribs.
