Nose

The dark berry fruit on the nose is accompanied by aromas of fig, plum, anise, clove, roasted hazelnuts and delicate notes of Earl Grey tea.

Palate

A full-bodied wine with flavors of warm black cherry compote and hints of cocoa and vanilla on the palate leads to a lingering finish replete with mouth-filling tannins and hints of graphite balanced with nice acidity.

Growing Conditions

The 2016 vintage was characterized by a warm spring followed by a cool spell in early June and again in September, this time accompanied by rain. Sourced from our Menozzi Estate vineyard and our neighbors along Mill Creek.

Harvest

The grapes for this wine were harvested in mid to late October, taking advantage of the cool fall evenings to create a fruit-forward wine balanced with bright acidity.

Winemaking

The fruit was carefully hand-picked, sorted and fermented separately in small open-top containers.

Aging

The wine was aged for 22 months in a mixture of new and neutral French oak barrels prior to final blending and bottling.
