Nose

Abundant aromas of dark black fruits and fig interlaced with warm notes of licorice, tobacco and baking spice.

Palate

A full-bodied wine replete with plenty of black fruit, plum and dried fruits, this Cabernet offers a warm, lengthy finish that balances nice acidity with mouth-filling, dusty tannins.

Growing Conditions

The 2016 vintage was characterized by a warm spring followed by a cool spell in early June and again in September, this time accompanied by rain.

Harvest

The grapes for this wine were harvested in late September through mid to late October, taking advantage of the cool fall evenings to create a fruit-forward wine balanced with bright acidity.

Winemaking

The fruit was carefully hand-picked, sorted and fermented separately in small open-top containers. A bold Cabernet Sauvignon with age-worthy potential, this luscious wine showcases the higher elevation, cooler climate terroir unique to the upland Mill Creek area of the Walla Walla Valley. Sourced from the Menozzi Estate vineyard and some of our closest neighbors along Mill Creek, this Cabernet is a blend of 76% Cabernet and 24% Merlot, blended to balance bright acidity with mouth-filling tannins to add length, structure and complexity to the finish.

Aging

The wine was aged for 22 months in a mixture of new and neutral French and American oak barrels prior to final blending and bottling.

Appearance

A dark garnet wine.
