Nose
Abundant aromas of dark red and blue fruits and
a dash of smoked pink peppercorns are interlaced
with warm notes of cedar and clove.
Palate
A full-bodied
wine with hints of cocoa and ripe black cherry on
the palate, this Cabernet offers a lingering finish
replete with mouth filling tannins and nice acidity.
Growing Conditions
The 2013 vintage was characterized by above average
temperatures throughout the spring and summer
growing season. An unexpected and dramatic drop
in temperatures during mid-September extended the
harvest, enabling longer hang times and more intense
flavor development.
Winemaking
The fruit was carefully handpicked,
sorted and fermented separately in small
open-top containers. A bold Cabernet Sauvignon with age-worthy
potential, this luscious wine showcases the higher
elevation, cooler climate terroir unique to the
upland Mill Creek area of the Walla Walla Valley.
Sourced from Wild Rose, Yellowbird, Los Oidos
and Walla Walla Vintners Estate Vineyards, this
Cabernet balances bright acidity with mouth filling
tannins, adding length, structure and complexity to
the finish.
Aging
The wine aged for 26 months
in a mixture of new and neutral French oak barrels
prior to final blending and bottling
