The vineyard conditions in 2017 presented an opportunity to create a "Chinon Style" wine. Chinon located in the Loire Valley produces some of the finest lighter-bodied Cabernet Franc wines. With great minerality and black currant flavor profiles, this Cab Franc has characteristics of lavender fields, fraise de bois, balsamic and fresh herbs.
This trio of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a touch of Cab Franc dances on your palate with a silky texture of ripe blackberry, cassis, and savory sagebrush. It wears the artwork of Sali Swalla, who paints landscapes of the human spirit---a perfect pairing, for isn't wine a landscape of terror and vine, blended with the emotion it evokes.
A classical cabernet in every sense of the word. The first aromas of dark rich bing cherry to cassis swirl about in the glass. As each sip hits your palate the wine expresses itself with robust tannins to plum, dark chocolate. The label, which embodies the elegance of the wine, is created by Tamara Apple who is one of Mary's dearest friend of 30 years. Like friendship, this wine will evolve and bring great richness to the table.
This is the first time a "male figure" has been featured on a DAMA label. The figure of Hercules, God of strength and adventure represents DAMA's first procurement of Syrah from the Stoney Vine Vineyard of the Rocks AVA. With powerful aromas and texture, this Syrah is rich in flavors of black olive, dark plum, with highlights of a savory umami experience.
