Nose
After opening our 2012 Estate Syrah you will be surprised by hints of ripe, red berry fruits, orange peel, white pepper and baking spices; a true reflection of a living organism. As it breathes, expressive notes of rose petal, dark chocolate and espresso will be ever present.
Palate
It is bold in the mid-palate with plenty of structure resulting in intensely juicy fruit lingering on the finish. It has good acidity and firm tannin.
Growing Conditions
Our 2012 Syrah is Estate grown and is a great representation of our unique terroir here at Double River Vineyard. Low yields were maintained throughout the season and resulted in quality and intense fruit at harvest.
Winemaking
Vines from block 7 and 8 were treated with extra care and it was a priority to give this vigorous varietal some stressing time. In doing so, our Syrah worked hard to develop those nice ripe and jammy flavors. This wine was carefully fermented with much need-ed air for aromatics.
Aging
Aged in the cellar for 18-20 months to showcase the distinctive characteristics of this cultivar.
Food Pairing
Is ideal as the sidekick to the perfect grilled steak! Lamb stew, Shepard’s pie and roasted duck will also com-plement our Syrah very well.
