Abeja is a beautifully restored, century-old farmstead set in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. Surrounded by 38-acres of creeks, gardens, and vineyards, the estate is home to the award-winning Abeja winery and tasting room. Acclaimed winemakers Dan Wampfler and Amy Alvarez-Wampfler craft Walla Walla wines from the estate’s Heather Hill and Mill Creek Vineyards, as well a Columbia Valley Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and a Washington State Chardonnay. Abeja List members enjoy full access to the winery's estate, reserve and Beekeeper's collections. The List is closed at this time due to the limited availability of the wines, however, interest parties are invited to join the Wait List . 

Adjacent to the winery is The Inn at Abeja providing year-round lodging to guests seeking a restorative, one-of-a-kind wine country experience. The property’s original outbuildings have been meticulously restored with an emphasis on craftsmanship to welcome overnight guests in a unique mix of private guest cottages, rooms and suites. With an emphasis on impeccable hospitality, Abeja invites guests to marvel in the property’s rich history while enjoying modern comforts and world-class wines that define an unforgettable wine country retreat.  

The name Abeja (pronounced “ah-BAY-ha”) is Spanish for bee. It was chosen to honor a deep-rooted respect for the environment and as a reminder of the importance of working together in community.

Abeja is led by Dan Wampfler and Amy Alvarez-Wampfler, partners in winemaking and in life. The husband and wife team met while working at Ste. Michelle wine estates, where both began their winemaking careers.



Dan is classically trained winemaker. He joined Ste. Michelle as a research enologist in 2002 and later held several winemaking positions with Ste. Michelle Wine Estates. Amy found her path to winemaking by way of the Columbia Crest tasting room. That experience led her to pursue a degree in winemaking while she worked as a Columbia Crest enologist, and it was at Columbia Crest where the couple's professional and personal lives crossed.



After leaving Columbia Crest, Dan to take the reins as Dunham Cellars' head winemaker in 2008 and Amy to serve as Sinclair Cellars' general manager and winemaker, their dream of working together again seemed improbable. That changed when Abeja approached the couple in late 2015.



Since joining Abeja in January 2016, Dan and Amy have combined their formidable winemaking talents with their love for one another. Their goal is to create handcrafted wines that are the result of meticulous viticultural practices; customized, small lot fermentation and aging; and selective blending.

Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot Blend

A nose filled with baking spices and ripe berries mingles with subtle, earthy undertones. The palate is nicely structured with fine tannins and pleasant acidity. A medley of red fruits, dried cranberry, strawberry and pomegranate combine with black tea and leather, continuing to evolve through a lasting, delicious finish.
