This Syrah shows intriguing notes of cured meat, white pep-per, minerality and savory tones on the nose. Once opened up, the aromatics showcase with nuances of orange peel, overripe strawberry and dark chocolate.
In between the ripe fruit, mature tannins and light accents of oak, you will find bright acidity in the finish that ensures for a great food wine and exceptional aging ability. The mouth feel is round and sweet, yet powerful and well structured, with a spicy and lingering finish.
Our 2014 Estate Syrah was grown at our Double River Vine-yard in the Walla Walla Valley. We like to manage this varietal carefully in the vineyard to ensure complexity and balance in the cellar.
A small, but significant amount of Cabernet Sauvignon from one of our high-tier blocks at Double River was blended with this wine to bring elegance and finesse as well as structure and complexity.
We mature our Syrah for 20 months in French oak to complement the aromatic , dark fruit aromas and intriguing earthy tones.
This food -driven wine can also stand alone, but will be even better with rack of lamb, wild game, char-cuterie or dark chocolate.
